Rita Silva is a Portuguese composer and instrumentalist, currently studying at the Institute of Sonology in The Netherlands. playing her first show in Barreiro, bringing with her the most recent record “The Inflationary Epoch”, which follows her debut in 2021 “Studies Vol. I”.
Making use of improvisation with modular synthesizers and generative music techniques, Silva showcased in those first studies an approach that paid homage to pioneers like Suzanne Ciani, Laurie Spiegel or Delia Derbyshire – there’s even a track with her name to make the lineage clear; “The Inflationary Epoch” is even more assured and purposeful, assuming a grandiose and elevated ascent, through waterfalls of arpeggios in a fractal flux that mutates in a hypnotically and somewhat hallucinatory way, in a psychoacoustic cosmos where artists like Caterina Barbieri or Jessica Ekomane float, two massive names that we have had the pleasure to host in recent editions of OUT.FEST.

The 19th OUT.FEST will take place on 5-7 October of this year. We return to Barreiro with the best annual meeting point to delve into the various possible worlds of Sound and to celebrate the miracles of Music, to explore the city and (re)experience community as a space of liberty.
OUT.RA is once again accepting applications from local artists to develop creative work related to Music / Sound / Sound Arts / Multimedia during 2023.
