FLORESTA OBLÍQUA
Floresta Oblíqua is the alter-ego of Mário Alexandre, a Lisbon-based musician who has, for the past six years, engaged in a process of sonic research into the myriad possibilities within synthesizers, pedals and other analog micro-worlds. He released, in 2019, the album “The Day “The Day The Universe Began Again”, celebrating a particularly important moment in the life of the person-musician.
Traz-nos, em mais uma sessão no bonito salão de dança d’Os Franceses, novo álbum homónimo a lançar (com edição da Fungo, um dos selos que melhor tem documentado as movimentações da electrónica modular no país) para o mundo nesta ocasião - e que álbum; repleto de poéticas deambulações modulares, pequenos ruídos ora celestiais ora do magma profundo, e longas meditações sobre a natureza do som elétrico investigada a partir de um espaço mental e físico restrito. Há uma linha condutora de paisagens sónicas utópicas que parece sugerir o encontro e o afastamento de um paraíso perdido - sugestão fácil de acatar nos tempos em que vivemos.

Our special guest to open this afternoon of concerts is Barreiro’s own José Veiga, also known as ZZY, who began his journey in producing electronic music in 2013. A multifaceted and eclectic author, he creates compositions which go for the opalescense of ambient and the effervescence of the hardest electronica. Among his portfolio are several releases including: Phobia EP (2017), Artificial Thoughts álbum (2018), Mariana EP (2019), all of them with Argentinian label Abstrakt Reflections. Among his more recent releases are the Plastic Jazz ep and the Disorder album, both released independently.

The 19th OUT.FEST will take place on 5-7 October of this year. We return to Barreiro with the best annual meeting point to delve into the various possible worlds of Sound and to celebrate the miracles of Music, to explore the city and (re)experience community as a space of liberty.
OUT.RA is once again accepting applications from local artists to develop creative work related to Music / Sound / Sound Arts / Multimedia during 2023.
