Yann Gourdon is a French composer and sound artist (part of the ‘France’ Trio and the ‘La Novia’ collective) who is particularly interested in acoustic phenomena and their interaction with the surrounding environment. Thanks to his study of the traditional music of Auvergne (a mountainous region in the centre of France) and his mastery over one of the most traditional instruments around – the popular hurdy-gurdy – he has been developing a solo oeuvre which explores the instrument’s inherent and powerful resonating abilities in performances which pay tribute to repetition, volume and trance and reach out to the heritage and future of this music through a sensorial trip that few can produce. As you probably already guessed, this will be – truly – a sonic experience to dive into with your eyes closed.

The 19th OUT.FEST will take place on 5-7 October of this year. We return to Barreiro with the best annual meeting point to delve into the various possible worlds of Sound and to celebrate the miracles of Music, to explore the city and (re)experience community as a space of liberty.
