OUT.RA’s first time at Qualia, with host-for-a-day Rafael van Ayres presenting the results of the OUT.RA Creation Grant for 2009: His new album, which will be revealed in a collective listening session followed by a conversation with the author, who will also be in charge of the music played during the dinner and up to the start of the performances.
After dinner, two special guests chosen by Van Ayres: DJ Problemas (Afonso Mota’s alter-ego, threading new ground through a somewhat oblique dancefloor) and Waterdownrobotroute (Pedro Brito, one of the young prodigies connected to the no less admirable label Rotten \ Fresh).
“I used the new January to change, begin and continue. All at once? Yeah, all at once.
Van Ayres is finally presenting stuff, in Barreiro, his new city-home. Not new, he’s been here for almost two years.
New pieces coming out of their den to feed themselves. We set up a trap to catch them unaware.
We use the afternoon to guide rays of light to the room. At night, we illuminate the path.”

The 19th OUT.FEST will take place on 5-7 October of this year. We return to Barreiro with the best annual meeting point to delve into the various possible worlds of Sound and to celebrate the miracles of Music, to explore the city and (re)experience community as a space of liberty.
OUT.RA is once again accepting applications from local artists to develop creative work related to Music / Sound / Sound Arts / Multimedia during 2023.
